If you’re in search of complete neutrality for your studio, the PSI Audio A17-M Pure White is an exceptional choice. After just a brief listening session, it was clear to me that these speakers would be a permanent fixture in my setup. As I’m in the early stages of building my home studio, I’ve been experimenting with mixing and mastering, and these monitors have truly elevated my experience.
Even in an untreated room, I find myself grinning as I sit between these monitors, which are effectively decoupled from my desk using IsoAcoustics Mini Pucks. The sound is remarkably balanced, natural, and high-resolution, providing precise audio reproduction. The craftsmanship is outstanding, making them a joy to use.
However, it’s important to note that the transparency of these speakers exposes every flaw in your audio, including the weaknesses in some of my favourite tracks. This is exactly what I wanted, as it allows for honest sound representation.
PSI Audio’s claim of delivering “the real thing” is certainly justified. For near-field listening, these speakers are fantastic, showcasing impeccable time and phase coherence, which was missing in my previous bookshelf speakers. Overall, the A17-M is a superb addition to any studio setup, providing a flat frequency response that is essential for critical listening.
