Customer Review Summary

I recently added the SE Electronics SE8 Omni Stereo-Capsule Set to my collection, having previously owned the cardioid pair. I am thoroughly impressed with the warm and smooth sound quality these omni capsules deliver. They maintain a similar tonal signature to the cardioid versions, offering a great deal of musicality and finesse.

The high frequencies are pleasingly rounded and never harsh, with a slight boost around 5kHz to 8kHz, suggesting they are well equalised for diffused fields. The matched pair is easy to handle, and the build quality is excellent, instilling confidence in their durability.

These capsules have proven to be versatile, ideal for various recording scenarios, including stereo ambient recordings and close-miking of classical instruments like violins and cellos. The sound is balanced and well-suited for different sources, and although there is a slight background noise, it is negligible considering the price point.

While I would have appreciated a clearer indication of the polar pattern on the capsules themselves, the overall performance of the SE8 Omni capsules is outstanding. They complement the cardioid mics beautifully, expanding the capabilities of my recording setup. The price-to-performance ratio is fantastic, making them a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to enhance their audio recording options.
