Customer Review Summary

Product Review: SE Electronics sE7 sideFire

I recently acquired the SE Electronics sE7 SideFire primarily for hi-hat recording, and I must say, I am absolutely impressed.

Sound & Performance

The audio quality is exceptionally clear and natural across the entire frequency spectrum. Particularly with the hi-hat, the brilliance comes through beautifully without sounding harsh or unpleasant. The switchable -20 dB pad and high SPL tolerance make it perfect for louder sources such as snares or toms. Furthermore, the low-cut filter at 80 Hz significantly cleans up the signals, helping to avoid any low-frequency rumble.

I can also envision using the SideFire as a stereo pair for overheads; its cardioid pattern provides precise imaging while remaining unobtrusive.

Build Quality & Design

The microphone feels very well constructed. The sleek black casing with the red and white logo not only looks stylish but also feels premium in hand. The packaging and protective measures are thoughtfully designed, instilling a sense of quality right from the start.

Conclusion

The sE7 SideFire impresses on all fronts, whether for hi-hats, toms, snares, or as overheads. It delivers professional sound, is versatile, and has an aesthetically pleasing design.

The only minor drawback is that it comes at a slightly higher price than the standard sE7. However, the noticeable increase in flexibility and quality justifies the cost.

I highly recommend it to all drummers and recording enthusiasts!
