Customer Review Summary

I recently tested the Audix Fusion FP-5 Drumset and I must say, these microphones offer excellent value for money. Transitioning from the Fusion F10, F11, and F12 models, I was particularly impressed by the hypercardioid pattern, which significantly reduces cymbal bleed, resulting in a clearer overall sound. The mics feel robust and well-built, although the provided clamps for the toms could be sturdier; I initially worried they might break under the weight and vibrations, but they held up well in practice.

The sound quality of the tom microphones is outstanding, capturing the essence of the drums beautifully when positioned correctly, with minimal crosstalk. The snare mic delivers a sharp and punchy sound, performing admirably not only on the snare but also when used for miking a guitar cabinet.

In terms of versatility, I used the mics for recording skin percussion instruments like congas and bongos. The sound for the bongos was satisfactory; however, the high-frequency response for the congas was somewhat mediocre. Nevertheless, considering the price point, these microphones are definitely a reasonable choice for both live performances and studio recordings. Overall, I would highly recommend the Audix Fusion FP-5 Drumset as a superb option for budget-conscious musicians.
