Customer Review Summary
The Shure PGA Drumkit 7 is an exceptional complete microphone set for drums, delivering impressive sound quality that rivals more expensive options. As a novice drummer, I was initially hesitant about the performance of an affordable kit, but I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The sound is full and clear, with excellent reproduction of the snare and toms. The PGA52 captures bass frequencies beautifully, making it a top choice for live performances and studio recordings alike.
The build quality of the microphones, featuring an all-metal body, feels robust and durable. While the included XLR cables are somewhat cheap, they have proven reliable over time, showing no signs of wear. However, I recommend being cautious with them as they can be a bit cumbersome.
Setting up the microphones is straightforward, although the clips for the toms can be a bit tricky to attach initially. The overhead microphones, PGA81, excel at capturing sound, adding a professional touch to recordings. I did find that the kick mic’s high-cut setting may not suit all genres, so for aggressive music, a different kick microphone might be advisable for optimal clarity.
Overall, the PGA Drumkit 7 is a fantastic investment for any drummer, whether for live performances or studio work. With minimal equalisation effort, it provides outstanding sound quality across various settings. I wholeheartedly recommend this kit to any drummer looking for a reliable and high-quality microphone solution.
