Customer Review Summary

I recently upgraded to the RME Fireface 802 FS, replacing my long-serving Fireface 400, and I couldn’t be more pleased with this decision. The audio quality remains stellar, just as I had experienced with the Fireface 400, and the installation process was straightforward.

Having previously used RME devices, I appreciate the long-term support for drivers which ensures stability and reliability. The TotalMix FX software is a fantastic addition, offering enhanced functionality with controllable effects that make mixing a joy. The preamps in the 802 FS are noticeably better than my old model, providing an overall improved sound quality that is simply delightful.

With ample analogue inputs and outputs, I can easily connect various external hardware without the hassle of constant repatching. The build quality is robust, and the device operates smoothly with minimal latency issues. Although I noticed a slight performance edge with another brand during extensive plugin use, the differences were negligible.

I do wish for a dedicated knob to control the main speaker volume, but this minor inconvenience does not overshadow the overall experience. The comprehensive manual helps ease the initial setup, and once familiar with the routing logic, everything works seamlessly.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend the RME Fireface 802 FS. It’s an incredible piece of gear that delivers exceptional audio quality, impressive stability, and the flexibility that professionals look for in an interface.
