It integrates seamlessly with my existing setup, which includes iLoud MTM MK II monitors, and the room correction feature is a significant advantage, especially in a space where I can’t install bass traps.
Physically, the installation process is straightforward. I used balanced XLR connections, following the guidelines to set up the sub with my audio interface. It’s essential to connect the USB for the ARC X software to calibrate the subwoofer properly, which greatly enhances the sound experience. Once calibrated, the improvement in audio quality is remarkable, particularly in the low frequencies, transforming my monitoring experience dramatically.
However, there are some quirks with the setup that could be improved. The iLoud Sub comes with an ARC microphone, but it doesn’t include the necessary cable to connect it, which can create confusion for users. Additionally, the calibration process requires different software compared to the MTM MK II monitors, necessitating firmware updates that may complicate compatibility for users who want to integrate the whole iLoud system. This inconsistency in the setup process could be frustrating, especially for new users.
Despite these challenges, once the iLoud Sub is properly set up, it delivers an exceptional listening experience. The room correction feature effectively compensates for any acoustic issues, providing a clear and defined low-end response. Overall, I can highly recommend the iLoud Sub for its performance and sound quality, although potential buyers should be prepared for some initial setup hurdles.
