Customer Review Summary

The Genelec 8361 AP, fondly known as “The Big One”, is an impressive monitor speaker that truly stands out in the realm of audio production.

These monitors are robust and substantial, thanks to their heavy metal casing, which adds to their impressive build quality. It’s advisable to have assistance when setting them up due to their weight. For stability, the recommended K&M 26791 stands combined with the Genelec Z8260-450B adapter plate work perfectly.

One of the key reasons for choosing the 8361 over the 8351 models was the larger bass driver, which delivers exceptionally precise bass response. However, for those who crave deeper bass, pairing them with a subwoofer can enhance the experience, depending on the genre of music being played.

The stereo imaging is noticeably more accurate than what I’ve experienced with other monitor speakers, making it easier to pinpoint sounds in the mix. My listening distance is around 1.5 to 2 metres, which seems ideal for these monitors.

Using the GLM software for calibration, particularly in conjunction with a subwoofer, has been seamless. The ability to create and switch between multiple profiles is a fantastic feature, and controlling all the speakers via the GLM software, rather than manually switching them on and off, is a significant convenience.

So far, I have not encountered any drawbacks and can wholeheartedly recommend the Genelec 8361 AP for anyone serious about their audio production.
