Customer Review Summary
I rarely write product reviews, but I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the Genelec 8341 AP. These monitors are simply the best I have ever owned.
To truly harness their potential, I recommend using the GLM kit, which connects via Ethernet and allows for precise calibration with a measurement microphone included in the set. After calibration, the sound quality is nothing short of fantastic. Initially, the monitors sound good, but they can have a bit too much bass without calibration. The setup is quick and delivers astonishing results.
The Genelec 8341s receive an AES-EBU digital signal directly from the DAW, eliminating unnecessary conversions that can affect sound quality. The coaxial speaker design ensures exceptional phase stability, making mixing effortless. The clarity and balance of the sound are impressive; they do not exhibit the sterile or overly Hi-Fi characteristics I associated with older Genelec models.
The bass response is more than adequate for mixing without the need for a subwoofer. These monitors provide an accurate representation of my mixes, allowing me to stop second-guessing my work by checking in my car or other locations. I’ve found that I can rely on the Genelecs completely, saving me time and effort in the mixing process. For additional monitoring, a pair of Auratones is sufficient for balance checks.
Despite their high cost, I believe the Genelec 8341 APs are worth every penny. The sound is unbelievably realistic, and I enjoy the freedom of moving around without losing the sweet spot. Even as a professional musician, I would choose to listen to these monitors over attending a live concert.
In summary, the Genelec 8341 AP offers incredible sound quality and build, and I am thoroughly satisfied with my investment.
