Customer Review Summary
The Behringer B-1 Dark Edition is an excellent condenser microphone that I have thoroughly tested for recording vocals and acoustic guitar. After extensive research and comparison with other brands like AKG and Audio-Technica, I was particularly drawn to its sleek matte black finish, which adds a touch of elegance to my setup.
Upon unboxing, I was pleased to find that the microphone was well-packaged and free from any defects such as odors, stains, or sharp edges. The build quality is impressive, both for the microphone itself and the included shock mount. When tested with a Yamaha mixer, the sound quality was notably clear with good highs for vocal recordings. Even after switching off the 48V phantom power, the microphone maintained a usable signal for around 20 seconds, which was a pleasant surprise.
Transitioning to a Line6 UX5 audio interface for further testing, I consistently found the sound to be clean and transparent. There was no noticeable noise or hum, which is often a concern with microphones in this price range. The weight and size of the microphone are just right, making it easy to handle and position during recordings.
However, the only minor drawback I found was the supplied adapter for mounting, which is made of thin yellow brass. This isn’t a significant issue, as a sturdier replacement can be easily sourced at a low cost.
In summary, the Behringer B-1 Dark Edition delivers clear, high-quality sound and a stylish appearance, making it a fantastic choice for those seeking a reliable microphone without breaking the bank. It competes well with much more expensive alternatives and is highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their recording setup.
