Customer Review Summary

Genelec 8331 WH is a remarkable speaker that has significantly improved my audio experience. Having previously used Genelec 8020c’s, the upgrade to the 8331 WH was a game-changer, especially in terms of bass reproduction. The 8020c’s struggled with anything below 50Hz, often forcing me to rely on headphones for mixing bass frequencies.

The 8331 WH delivers impressively rich and smooth bass, while maintaining clarity in the mids and highs. The stereo imaging is exceptional, allowing me to discover new details in familiar tracks. Even at higher volumes, the sound becomes richer rather than just louder, showcasing the quality of a good monitor.

In terms of build quality, Genelec has delivered as expected. Despite not utilising the built-in room correction features, the speakers remain highly configurable with toggle switches for roll-off and volume. This flexibility ensures they perform well even in a “dumb” mode.

While they may not be the cheapest option, the performance justifies the price point. In my small 20m³ room, the 8331 WH eliminates the need for additional bass absorbers, effectively managing problematic frequencies. Its ability to reproduce frequencies down to 35Hz without any noticeable drop is truly impressive, especially given its compact size.

Moreover, the addition of the GLM kit is essential to unlock the full potential of these speakers, enhancing the overall sound quality and spatial recognition. The white finish is also aesthetically pleasing and highly recommended.
