Customer Review Summary

The Neumann USM 69I mt is a remarkable accessory that delivers exceptional sound quality, making ensembles sound divine. Its dual system allows for easy positioning and excellent localisation, particularly in intensity stereophony. However, it is crucial to carefully determine the central axis before positioning, especially when using typically counter-rotated individual systems; a misalignment of even 90 degrees can ruin the desired stereo image.

Weighing in at 510 g, it requires secure mounting, although a good microphone clamp can suffice in most cases. Interestingly, it exhibits low sensitivity to handling noise, so there’s little need for a spider mount in my applications.

Despite its premium price of €5200, there are minor manufacturing flaws, such as the misalignment of the switches with the symbols for the polar patterns, which may warrant further attention. Additionally, the wooden case could be crafted with a bit more care given its status as a ‘collector’s item’.

Overall, it’s a stunning piece in black, and paired with a Nagra Seven, it truly represents the pinnacle of performance. The microphone’s functions make it easy to address acoustic challenges in any space.
