Genelec 7370 APM Review
Having tested the Genelec 7370 APM for a couple of days, I can confidently say that while I won’t be keeping it, the overall sound quality is truly impressive.
The design of the subwoofer is distinctive and functional, aimed at delivering excellent sound rather than just aesthetic appeal. The unique drum shape effectively minimises unwanted air noises, and the high-quality finish adds a touch of elegance that is often lacking in competitors.
When it comes to features, however, I found some aspects lacking. The connection box on the side feels a bit flimsy, and while the inclusion of 7.1 bass management and a durable membrane protection grill are commendable, I was disappointed that essential components like the GLM Network and volume knob are sold separately. This approach detracts from the overall user experience, especially given the price point of the product. It would be beneficial for Genelec to include these items in the package, even if it means a higher upfront cost.
As for sound performance, this subwoofer excels. The paper cone, despite being unconventional compared to aluminium options, delivers remarkable quality, especially in this price range. While it could use a bit more power in the lower frequency range (20-30 Hz), it shines from 40 Hz onwards, providing deep and precise bass without being overly sensitive to placement. There’s no unwanted distortion, making it an excellent choice for mixing, vinyl playback, or film soundtracks—a true all-rounder.
Overall, I would recommend the Genelec 7370 APM for its outstanding sound quality and unique design, but potential buyers should be prepared for additional costs for essential accessories.
