Customer Review Summary
I recently decided to enhance my audio setup with the Focal Sub One, having previously owned a pair of Focal Alpha Twin Evo speakers. I must say, I am thoroughly impressed. This subwoofer is powerful and allows for precise control over the frequency and intensity of the bass.
The sound quality is exceptional, providing a clean and hyper-detailed bass response that is characteristic of Focal products. Its versatility is highlighted by its unique controls, making it highly adaptable to different listening environments.
After upgrading from a Tannoy subwoofer, the difference was remarkable. The bass is much cleaner, and the seamless integration with my Focal monitors is evident. The build quality and design are exactly what one would expect from Focal—flawless.
I’ve also used it in conjunction with five Focal Shape 50 speakers, utilising bass management with a Dirac system, and it has added that essential depth between 40 and 90 Hz that was previously missing from my setup. The sound now feels larger and more three-dimensional.
While I did consider aesthetics, which may vary when pairing it with other models, the finish is excellent, and the sound is notably clearer and more precise. The adjustments available are very effective, making it a superb complement to smaller speakers.
In terms of power, it is more than sufficient for a room of about 20 square metres. The upgrade from my previous Yamaha sub was significant, adding depth and a more immersive experience. Overall, the Focal Sub One is highly recommended for those who appreciate quality in their audio systems.
