Customer Review Summary

Genelec 8341 AM Monitors Review

Having used the Genelec 8341 AM monitors for over a year, I can confidently say they deliver an impressive balance of compact size and rich sound quality. Positioned approximately 60cm away, the stereo image is exceptionally precise, allowing for excellent localisation of instruments. The sweet spot is notably broad, making it comfortable to work without needing to sit perfectly still in the centre.

After calibrating with the GLM system, these monitors reproduce all musical details accurately—nothing feels overemphasised, and I can work for extended periods without experiencing fatigue. The build quality is impeccable, showcasing Genelec’s commitment to excellence.

While there are a few adjustments to be made using the small dip switches on the back, such as AES/EBU channel assignment and internal EQ settings, these are typically one-time setups. The informative GLM system not only assists in speaker calibration but also offers a detailed analysis of the listening environment with valuable improvement tips.

Switching to AES input with my upgraded soundcard has further enhanced the depth of sound, highlighting the monitors’ capability. Despite a noticeable dip at 80Hz due to room acoustics, the overall low-end control is surprisingly effective. I look forward to testing a subwoofer in the future to refine the low-end response even more. In summary, the Genelec 8341s are a worthy investment for anyone serious about music production, providing clarity and reducing ear fatigue significantly.
