The Shure Nexadyne 5 is a remarkable microphone that has quickly become my go-to choice for capturing guitar amplifiers. After spending years relying on classic models like the Shure SM57 and Sennheiser e906, I decided it was time for a change. Upon trying the Nexadyne 5, both I and our long-time sound engineer were thoroughly impressed.
This microphone captures the amp’s sound precisely as it is heard on stage, eliminating the need for extensive EQ adjustments that were often necessary with previous models. It simply needs to be placed in front of the amp, and it delivers outstanding results.
While the price may seem steep, I believe it is well worth the investment. Compared to my previous choice, the Sennheiser Blackfire 509, the Nexadyne 5 offers an even richer tonal quality in my mixing setup. Despite some initial doubts from fellow musicians, the clarity and presence of this mic have won them over after performances.
With a voluminous and clear low-mid sound, it’s especially suited for heavy rock guitars. I would recommend pairing it with a Beyerdynamic M69 for added highs and brilliance, creating a truly dynamic sound experience.
In short, the Shure Nexadyne 5 excels in both clean and distorted tones, making it an excellent addition to any microphone collection.
