Customer Review Summary

The Microtech Gefell M 330 is an exceptional microphone that stands out for its incredible detail resolution, particularly when compared to its peers such as the Neumann KM 185. When tested with various instruments through a Neve 88RLB preamp, the M 330 revealed a unique richness in sound that is difficult to articulate.

While both microphones produce clear signals, the Neumann KM 185 tends to sound a bit brighter and more polished right out of the box. However, the M 330 requires some further tweaking to achieve its full potential. This is especially noticeable with string instruments, such as violins, where the M 330 captures subtle nuances that the KM 185 simply does not. The way the bow glides over the strings and the resulting full tone is beautifully rendered by the M 330, while the KM 185 delivers a more straightforward sound.

For those who appreciate intricate detail and are willing to forgo additional accessories like a mount and windscreen, the Microtech Gefell M 330 is an excellent choice. However, if one prefers a quick, clean, and ready-to-use signal along with added accessories, the Neumann might be the more suitable option.
