Customer Review Summary

M-Audio Forty Sixty

However, the monitors do have some drawbacks. Periodic capacitor discharge can deliver an unpleasant surprise if the speakers have been inactive for a while. Additionally, while they produce strong bass, the clarity and openness of the sound can be lacking, particularly in the higher frequencies. The bass may feel a bit boomy, and the stereo imaging does not always convey the precision one might hope for in a near-field setup.

Bluetooth connectivity is a nice feature, working well once the source device is set up correctly. It should be noted that the volume control on the speaker does not affect the Bluetooth signal, which can result in unexpectedly loud playback. The speakers also produce some hum, reminiscent of older tube radios, which may be audible during quiet passages.

Despite these imperfections, the Forty Sixty speakers perform admirably for casual listening and movie watching, making them a solid choice for those who prioritise enjoyment over analytical sound quality. They deliver good value for the price and are particularly effective in social settings, such as parties.

Overall, I would recommend the M-Audio Forty Sixty for anyone looking for a reliable option that combines decent sound quality with the convenience of Bluetooth, as long as one is aware of their limitations.
