Customer Review Summary

The CAD Audio E100Sx is quite a unique microphone, offering a sound that evokes a different era, reminiscent of a time when microphones were true tools for sound shaping rather than just neutral transmitters. If you appreciate its sonic signature, it can be a valuable addition to your toolkit.

However, my experience was not without issues. Upon unboxing, I discovered that the elastic suspensions of both microphones were broken, and the rubber mounts were worn out. Fortunately, replacement rubber bands were included, which suggests that this might be a common problem.

When testing the microphones, I encountered significant problems; one mic failed to work entirely, while the other produced noticeable background noise. In fact, an older Behringer B1 I own has less noise than these CAD microphones, which is quite disappointing.

Despite the initial excitement, I ended up returning them. While the second microphone I received had a lovely rich tone, it still exhibited some self-noise, although not excessively. The included mic stand adapters were improperly threaded, which was another inconvenience.

The shock mount is quite cool—narrow yet effective—and the inclusion of replacement bands is a nice touch. However, I found the 100Hz roll-off to be excessive for my voice.

In summary, while the CAD Audio E100Sx has potential for those who appreciate its character, quality control issues and performance inconsistencies might make it less reliable compared to other brands like Rode or AKG.
